27 T Hi-boy

"Rocket Speed Equipment" Co-founder, Jeff Klein's personal ride is a 27 "T" Ford. Heavily modified, this little roadster is built in the tradition of 50's Californian style hot rods.

Based on a 104" wheelbase, the frame is a full perimeter design.

Front suspension is a typical buggy sprung, I beam axle on Rocket radius rods with leaver shocks. Untypicaly, this traditional appearing set up has been cleverly converted to an independent action by Rocket.

Rear suspension is a trusty narrow 4.11 geared. 57 ford 9" diff again hung on a transverse spring with rocket fabricated radius rods and tube shocks.

Braking is done via '39 Ford brakes with 48 drums and stock '57 drums at rear. Handbrake is a shortened '47 item.

A simple column turns a sprint car steering box, which then directs the steering arm and drag link, all fabricated by Rocket.

Wheel choice is '48 Ford disc wheels with caps and rings, shod in skinny and skinnier cross ply whitewall rubber.

Spinning the tires is a classic tri-powered 283"   inch chevy V8, hooked to a manual transmission. A Rocket - Fabricated exhaust system, custom aluminium radiator and accessories round out the engine compartment.

The gloss block roadster body features a rolled lip, extended swaging on rear quarter panels, tear drop cowl steering blister and mounts a hallock inspired windshield. A Louvered , Rocket fabricated, custom three piece, aluminium hood and stainless hood latch mechanism is fronted by a sectioned '32 Ford shell with a Rocket grill insert. "Guide" headlights lead the way, with surface mounted '34 Ford taillights following.

Interior comprises rolled and pleated oxblood naugahyde upholstery with red carpet. The fabricated, painted aluminium dash behind the sprint car style steering wheel holds Stewart Warner gauges. The matching upholstered trunk houses the Rocket fabricated fuel tank, battery box, hinges, latch mechanism and stay.

Meticulous craftsmanship, attention to detail and clever design combined, typify the characteristic style of the "Rocket Speed Equipment".
